We've started a new exclusive club - The JK Ensemble Ensemble, made up of some of our favourite musicians. We've already added Hélène Grimaud and Charlie Haden to the list. Any thoughts on who we should add next?

Bill Frisell, Pablo Casals, Dawn Upshaw and Jimmy Scott should probably get a start, depending on fitness. Monk would be useful to have on the bench, should Grimaud get injured. How many players in an ensemble ensemble anyhow?

Surely Herbie Hancock now qualifies (or is a grammy no good). There's Mr. Mingus of course, Coleman Hawkins, Chet Baker, Earl Hines, Django, Bill Evans, Mose Alison. Maybe we could invite John Cale, John Cage and JJ Cale!. Also Bang on a Can, David Lang, Hauschka. How about Alarm will Sound, Stars of the Lid, Isan and Matmos. Musicians ? the Labeque sisters, du Pre, Klara Kormendie, I Solisti Aquilani, Capella Istropolitana, Alexandre Tharaud, Roberto Alagna, Leon Fleisher, Andreas Scholl, Luc Beausejour.
Local interest? Finghin Collins, Lasairfhiona Ni Chonaola. Louis Stewart. Don't forget some blues guys, Lightnin Hopkins, Taj Mahal, Meade Lux Lewis. Hendix, SRV, Clapton, Gallagher.
too many too many.......(Etienne Cutajar for horn player!)
have you more specific guidelines for the ensemble? It doesn't matter........pick who you want.....it's your show...!!

Would Tom Waits be acceptable? The Piano's Been Drinking seldom fails to raises the tone. Kila would be nice also. And Karl Jenkins bangs out a good tune or two.
