It was another wild musical adventure this past weekend. On Friday night, I played two sets with the Johnny DeFrancesco Power Trio and Donny Syracuse at Vincent's. The boys blasted the packed house with Johnny brand of in your face blues and rock. It was a pleasure to play Jimi Hendrix, Cream, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Chuck Berry, Elvis and Ray Charles covers. My wife said, she couldn't always hear me in the wall of sound. I told her that was alright because I must have been playing the right notes. On Saturday, Ray Ferretti recorded Ron Thomas and the great Bobby Rose for a future Vectordisc CD. This session was a continuation of basement tapes that Ron and Bobby did back in 1973 in their Pat Martino days. These guys were true pioneers of fusion before the term was even coined. It was a dream come true for me. I've dug these guys since I was in high school. Now I finally got to record them together. Richard Burton
