The Democrats sent a strong message to the rest of the country last night. A record 239,000 (up from 113,000 four years ago) registered democrats turned out to say that the media will not tell them who is the front runner for the Presidency in 2008. The tremendous youth vote and Barack Obama proved that this country is ready for change, and former Senator John  Edwards coming in second must have the Hillary Clinton camp biting their nails. For month's now I have been hearing how Hillary would run away with the nomination, and she still may wind up winning; but for one night at least; the voters had the last word. We also bid a fond farewell to Senator's Biden and Dodd who have decided to drop out of the race.

On the Republican side former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee won Iowa, in spite of the $12 million dollars and two years that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney spent to wind up in second place. There were 93,000 Republican caucus goers and the message I get from that is that the people of this country are fed up with the status quo and will demand change from the next President. Senator John McCain came in a surprising third and the Fred Thompson campaign may be ready to pack it in(I hope he still has his SAG card), I was ecstatic to see that Guiliani was in single digits. I would love to see that trend continue.

The bottom line is that HOPE won over FEAR and that is something we can all be happy about. It was especially wonderful that a state that is 92% white and has historically voted Red came through so loud and clear, Race doesn't matter in this race. So I will say to all of my new friends in Iowa, "Blue looks great on you"; now we need to get the other Red States to join in the makeover.

Now it's off to New Hampshire and we can only hope that this quest for change continues. Make sure you tune into Road to the White House on Now Live every Sunday at 2pm EST/11am PST for all the latest news on the 2008 Presidential Election.
