Zach "Bacon" VernonWe've been quite busy here at BOT, attending show almost nightly for
review. Last week, I managed to see fifteen bands in the matter of 6
days. With the regular shows, late nights and heavy boozing, I find
myself so far behind on reviews that it's not even funny. Hell, I just
managed to upload the past four shows worth of pictures on Flickr
today. With all that said, I finally have some time to start posting
some things, so expect a smattering of reviews on the site in the next
couple days.
Norwegian dance-punks
Datarock made their way to the Studio at
Warehouse Live
for a funk-filled set, fueled by deep bass, tweaked-out synths and
disco guitar layered with a healthy heaping of porno saxophone. Of the
many bands I've seen this year, Datarock provided one of the most fun
and danceable sets yet. They were my Hot Chip of 2009 – my excuse to
quickly shed the camera, as well as my inhibitions on the dance floor.
For a little over an hour, the red jump-suited quartet treated us to
not-stop boogieing, especially during standouts like "Fa Fa Fa,"
"Dance" and "Computer Camp Love." Their energetic stage persona's took
over from the moment they hit the stage, and lasted late into the night
when they made an appearance (along with Pink's touring band, The Ting
Tings, The Horrors and Crocodiles) at an after-hours party in Warehouse
Live's suave new Green Room. If you feel like dancing your ass off,
don't miss Datarock when they come through your town.
I did manage to take a few good photos in between my white-boy dancing – feel free to check them out
after the jump.
