Happy Easter!

As you may know by now, the plan is that the next mooli album will feature guest vocalists!

Just posted a new song working title' Black spring' featuring singer, Hannah from x factor, which we're thinking about releasing as a download single.. Mooli feat Hannah.

Here is a link to Hannah on youtube..

Hannah

What do you reckon to her voice?

Also, a new dance remix of ' San Francisco Rain' is sounding really good! I went out to a club and heard it played on saturday, and it went down really well. More remixes are getting done, and they'll be a sample of it up here on Youtube soon. Already, it's has attracted the attentions of a couple of labels. More news about that soon!

Ben :)

Mooli will always have that solid sound w/ Clea's voice... Hannah's voice is fine, but you had a gold mine w/ Clea... that's a shame to have separated like so. Too bad the labels don't realize you have the vocals under Mooli anymore.
Miss the old Mooli here in the US!

Hey Sweetest Vibe, I totally agree that Clea has a brilliant voice. Couldn't agree more! I personally think she has one of the best voices i have worked with, and I have worked with quite a few great female vocalists over the years, inc Beverley Knight, who for my money has one of the best voices in the UK, and beyond.

Furthermore, the melodies on both the "Concubine album" , and ' One design EP' were written with her voice in mind, and I think suits her to a tee.

For the record, it's not that I didn't want to work with her anymore. That choice was taken out of my hands.

I guess, looking back.. one of our strengths , which became a problem in the end , was that we were also in a relationship, and knew, and understood each other.

Even after a very messy, and messed up ending, I had no problems working on new material. To be honest, I held out waiting to see whether Clea would be the vocalist, or one of the vocalists on the next album, but like I said, that option wasn't made available, so things had to move on. We certainly have quite a few demo's with her vocals, and to me they sound great! But like I said.. it's useless sitting around, unable to do anything, except stewing and thinking about the past. I just had to get a grip and press on, with no other option at my disposal.

She certainly has a very confident voice (probably goes hand in hand with her confident demeanour). Maybe not as distinctive a voice as some of the vocalists you've worked with, but I guess you're not going to know how good the fit will be until you write and record some material with her.

Looking forward to hearing the results... as ever...

Hey Dave , nice one man. Well the first fruits of the collaboration, is ' Black spring' up on the Myspace player now. This will probably come out as a single download soon. I'm still working on it, tweaking the mix etc. Coming along well though.

Hannah has a much more classic voice for this kind of music, whereas Clea had a fragile almost brittle quality to her voice.

It may well turn out that Hannah has the more commercial voice for Mooli. I tend to enjoy your lower tempo songs more than the fast ones (It's a sign of old age) and I'd like to hear Hannah sing one of those songs.

Good song btw

Hey John, yes she has a soulful voice to my ears, and I do have a thing for soulful voices.

Clea has a very emotional voice , which is also soulful, and i do love it. I do also think that Hannah has a great voice, and yes, maybe a bit more commercial, but in a good way.

There are a few downtempo songs to record. haven't quite figured who will do them yet, but yes will try Hannah on one of those maybe.

Glad you like the song. I hope by the time i've finished the production and final mix of it, that you will like it even more.

Hey Anne- Lise, you make me laugh, lol.

Thanks for the thumbs up.

I guess i could have tried to go for a Clea sound alike, hard as that is to find.. In fact i did work with a singer who sounded almost identical, but the vibe wasn't right.
Maaaan!

Hopefully you'll like the new songs.

you can't find a singer like clea and likely otherwise every singers would have almost the same voices!! how boring!!!! just find someone nice with a good voice who can be able to make your song live!! it's possible and I think you will find it! and maybe your friends are right about the commercial voice!good luck!! sure the songs will sound good to me!! and if it isn't I will tell you what's wrong as usual!!lol!!!! xxxxxxxxxx

Hey, appreciate your honesty as always. Life goes on as they say.. and the fact is decisions were taken completely out of my hands, which I didn't appreciate, after having put in so much hard work into Mooli, and things have had to adapt. I think the saying is ' adapt or die' . I guess I will have to put the record straight once and for all, because a lot of stuff has been said which aren't true, that are in fact very misleading- but that will will have to wait for another time. :) xx
