Regarding the upcoming merge of XM and Sirius SatRad ... I was asked how that would affect Hand Of Grandfather on XM and the truth is ... I have no danged idea! I know that Sirius has The Electric Powwow with Brian Wright-McLeod. As far as I'm aware, his show is the only N8V show on Sirius and HOG is the only one on XM. I'm really hoping for the best for all of us. After all, my feeling is that the real beneficiaries here would be the SatRad listeners and the Indigenous artists who get heard! Cuz, let's face it ... terrestrial radio, with the exception of rez stations, pretty much ignores us.
It'd be a real honor for me to be on the same channel as Brian (well-respected author of The Encyclopedia of Native Music: More than a Century of Recordings from Wax Cylinder to the Internet.) But, so far, the powers that be at XM have said nothing to me about the merge (why would they? I'm a pretty small potato) ... I'm just hoping there's room for everyone in the new metamorphasis. What are your thoughts?
