Before you add HOG as friend, please know this ...

Aniin ... Boozhoo ... Howdy! I just think it's time I let potential myspace friends know that I am looking for, at least, some commonalities before I accept adds. (and I do actually look at your profiles and read your messages) ... It could be as little as a book we both like or as big as 'the political or spiritual Big picture' of the world ... but, dang, I'm getting a little weary of people trying to hook in who don't appear to have a single thing in common with me. I thought this was a given but now I see maybe not so much ... so here we go ... a few boundaries:

I have respect for ALL religions and theologies ... however, you may want to know I am not a christian. I am quite comfortable and strong in my spirituality and do not appreciate the attempts at conversion. I do not try to convince you that only my way of interacting with Creator is correct and I truly appreciate the same level of consideration and respect in turn.

I shy away from adding people with profile pix that are sexual in nature. Especially those slightly-out-of-focus depictions of Native people wearing only loin cloths and leather bikinis. I find them disrespectful to women and to indigenous cultures. Sorry... but that's how I feel. I have made exceptions for graphics that may be nude-ish for art's sake.

I love getting comments but please don't send those cheesy, stereotypical, predictable depictions of Native people. C'mon, people ... there's a vast internet out there ... you can 'liberate' better art than that. Also don't send 5 pics in a comment ... it's overkill .... one is good if it's chosen well.

Musicians: Please note that Hand Of Grandfather is a radio show that is geared towards tribally affiliated musicians only. I have discovered I have to be more careful about accepting adds from non-NDN bands ... I can't put you on the program ...  You have a hundred times more resources available to you than most N8V bands ... that's a good direction to go. If you still think you might fit into the format of the show, send me a message.

Okay, that's a pretty good start ... for those of you who are annoyed by these statements, it's prolly a good idea to move on. For those of you who don't see these statements as a problem or if you are a Hand Of Grandfather listener, you are warmly invited to Add me ... cuz it's a good day to groove N8V-style!

It seems disrespectful to me to be unaware of who our friends really are. I'm glad you wrote this here.
