All events are FREE and open to the public! Each summer the DeVos Art Museum hosts a juried exhibition open to all artists living North of the 45th Parallel from Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. A guest juror living in the Midwest, but not living within the boundaries where the artists live, selects the pieces through an anonymous jury process. The hope is that this approach gives all types of artists, including professional artists, students and self-taught artists a chance to be considered based on the merit of their work; not name, age, gender or location. This year's juror was MaryAnn Wilkinson. MaryAnn Wilkinson is a former curator of European modern art and contemporary art at the Detroit Institute of Arts. A Michigan native who was trained in the history of art at the University of Michigan she has organized exhibitions and worked with artists for nearly thirty years. Now a Detroit-based independent curator and scholar, she is working on a book on outdoor sculpture. The exhibition features 67 artists working in all medias. Artists include: alpena, mi: Joseph M.
