Okay, so I'm a little off topic today, but I gotta complain about something that's been bugging me for awhile now. I was at a McDonalds location on the weekend grabbing chicken McNuggets(probably the safest food on the menu) and lately I've been paying a lot more attention to what's going on behind the counters. I've noticed that most of the employees at McDonalds are usually in their teens, moreso the ones working the food prep area. So next time your ordering your Big Mac, watch the guy in the back making it. Notice that they don't wear gloves? The individual I watched wiped his nose then rubbed his hands on his pants. He then proceeded to make the burgers with his bare hands. I guess there's no time to stop and wash before handling that precious food.
Another fact that loosely applies here is that (and these are my own statistics that come from 20 years of working retail and using public waashrooms) only about 20% of the male population actually wash their hands after using the washroom. I'm continually surprised at how many men and moreso teens do their business and walk out of the public washroom without washing their hands. I don't care if you touched it or not, wash your friggin hands. Anyways, that's a whole other ballpark, but something to keep in mind when your watching your food being prepped barehanded.
Bottom line, McDonalds isn't the only guilty party here, but they are the biggest. As of this weekend I have officially given up McDonalds(those who know me, know that's a big thing). My fast food fixes are gonna be leaning towards the Subways and Quiznos from now on, cuz I know they wear gloves when they handle the food and they're making it right in front of me.
