This is a song I did with The Functionist. I was in The Village (a section in lower Manhattan for those that don't know) filming a T.V. pilot; the brainchild of Femcee Toni Blackman. I, along with the rest of the cast, was out in Washington Square Park and that's where The Functionist met up with Toni, Boogieman Ghost and myself. Toni and I shared a spot in Philadelphia at the time, so he came down with his equipment and tracks. When you read the inside of his album THE COALITIONS PART ONE, you'll see it says "vocals recorded in the kitchen, philadelphia"...because that's where we recorded them!LOL I also recorded TAKE MIC and THRU U with Toni. He called it RIGHT THERE, but I originally called it IT'S RIGHT HERE. Ahh, same record...whatever. On this song I decided to play with my voice a little. I like doing that at times. I also wanted to talk about something different. In the song I sing 'See what you're looking for isn't really that far from the start/It's waiting for you to put it on; you just have to have the heart'. That sums it up. In the 1st verse I talk about relationships. In the 2nd verse I ask the question in the place of people who look to scholars and spiritual "leaders" for guidance. In the 3rd verse I ask questions in the place of people who say where's the "real music". I'm saying it's all around us. It may not be on radio all of the time, but myspace is a clear example. Functionist: you gave me a good one, man. It was a pleasure.
