After having been through a continual state of bad luck lately, attending The Hopefuls concert at the FineLine on Saturday night was meant to be the reprieve in my life.  They dutifully succeeded.

I have to say, they have become one of my FAVORITE bands to see live. (And I've seen over 200 bands live, so that means A LOT that they're one of my favs...) They play such fun and creative music, with lyrics that are clever and witty, and beats that make me smile and feel happy. And their stage performance is so funny and amusing (they dress up in track suits, what more can I say?) that it makes me laugh and dance...and they just really bring joy to my life. And it was EXACTLY what I needed to help get me out of the depressing rut I was in.  I'm feeling rejuvenated now.

If you're reading this, and are unfamiliar with their music...Go to their myspace page, (http://www.myspace.com/thehopefulsmusic) and prepare to embark upon a blissful journey of sound..   And if you're debating attending one of their shows, GO!  Not only is their style and talent wonderful, but their audience participation is endearing as well.  When one of their microphone stands fell too low during a song, Erik Appelwick motioned for a boy in the front row to reach onto the stage to help him adjust it.  And when Darren Jackson accidentally kicked over his open water bottle while adjusting his pedals, I quickly picked it up for him, only to be met with a brilliantly thankful grin mid chorus.  (This in comparison to a concert by another artist that I attended at the FineLine a few weeks ago, where one of the girls in the front row reached her hand towards the guitarist, only to be met with a security guard pushing her backwards.  Clearly, The Hopefuls induce a better vide among their masses.)

So, in conclusion (although my accolades should have made this fairly obvious by now)...After seeing The Hopefuls...well my life now mirrors their band name.    Thanks boys!  "Hey man, I'm okay!"
