I was browsing a friend of a friend's Friends List and came across a profile set to private but in the headline section I read this:
"All creatures exist for a purpose. Even an ant knows what that purpose is-not with its brain, but somehow it knows.Only human beings have come to a point where they no longer know why they exist"
I had to send a message and this is what I sent:
Only human beings would place signifigance on "purpose". Cosmically in the giant macrocosm of all that exists, ants have no purpose, save existing. This is the same with all creatures and plan. Unless of course, you believe in God wherein there is some sort of divine plan in hatch, wherein God has blessed us all with purpose.
But I will assume you don't believe in God, as is my great hope for that signifies a greater consciousness. The universe is beyond God. God exists only to those who will it. And those who will it, they crave order and fear chaos. They fear they will find there is no master plan. They fear their lives will cease to have meaning. They seek guidance and assuagement and self-righteousness.
But you and I know should know that there is order in chaos. So I shall embrace chaos and disregard religion.
We evolved to think and reason therefore we have the innate ability to choose why we exist, with no pre-ordained reason for why we ARE. An ant cares nothing of purpose. It simply does as ants have always done in order to survive. Humans, on the other hand, we go beyond animalistic survival so we the basic driving survival instincts have been dulled a bit in return for a consiousness which allows us to contemplate our own natures versus the natures of that around us.
It is a miraculous thing and there are many humans who are very aware of their own particular place in the vast cosmos. I would even assume that even to formulate the statement that I disagree with that YOU, I Zombie, are very aware of why you exist.
I know why I exist. I exist because I allow myself to exist and I exist to create what I feel is beautiful and right. My purpose is to make the best of the gift of reason and live my life to its fullest potential. I do think that aspiration (as in breathing and ambition both) is amazing and the fact I can enjoy and contemplate this, even better.
Cheers! To breathing and curiosity!
