Current mood:  curious
A few days ago I started thinking about what I wanted to do when the current NIN tour came to an end. I realized that it would be the perfect time to take The New Regime music to a live format and finally play some shows. To get some feedback on the prospect of touring I asked the following question via Twitter: "If I decided to tour with The New Regime in the fall, who would come?". I didn't exactly expect the reaction I got, but I was EXTREMELY pleased with it. So the next step was to figure out how to take this project that I started by myself and take it on the road continuing to things my way, DIY, and finance it all. Then I remembered all the times I had been asked "When will you release Coup on CD?" since it came out online last November.
The reason why Coup was released digitally was because it made the most sense at the time. Although I was proud of my first ten songs, I didn't have very big expectations for it. So spending money on 5,000 CD's that could've very well spent the rest of time sitting in my garage if no one liked it seemed like a real waste. Here's what I'm thinking now...
I'm thinking about putting together a really special physical release. 1 package, 1 price, with the potential following items (give or take):
-CD
-DVD with live performances, out-takes, whatever else I can scrape up
-Vinyl
-Booklet with live/recording photos taken by two of my good friends.
-Limited edition, Hand Numbered, and signed by me (if that somehow sweetens the deal?)
-Maybe some other goods.
I'm open to ideas which is where you come in.
All the capital raised from sales of this package will go to finance The New Regime on tour.
I'm completely thinking out loud here and want your input. By messages of sorts, tweets, emails, comments, emails, phone calls, morse code, whatever works, let me know who's into this. I want to get moving as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Ilan

a physical release would be phenomenal. I'd gladly throw money down for a CD, and expanding my record collection is always good :D

Personally, though; I'd go by way of the Slip. CD/DVD; and then a seperate vinyl release perhaps with codes for digital download.

I work in a record store, but we don't play anything we don't sell physically. Doing this would be a great way to spread the word a little too if you stop to think about it, haha.

And since you're considering doing the handnumbered and hand signed, maybe a certain amount could be signed, but at random. Kind of like hide and seek almost.

I'd love just a normal release like the slip.  That would be just fine.  The rest is just frills that will waste space and time.

I remember typing you a message, asking when the new album would make it to physical release. So I'm happy, that it's been more than considered, and eventually become a reality. No longer will I have to log onto a friends computer, and pump the absolute shit out of your songs on youtube/myspace, whatever as I'm to poor to own a computer, so buying a digital release rendered pointless in my opinion. So with all that being said, I'd be happy with just a cd.. if you chose anything else to accompany this, I'm definatley a fan of stage photography, t-shirt deals also are good, and nothing really beats a good dvd package.

Please make this release swift... and painless.

Love from Australia.

I would love for you to come out with this on a Vinyl.  Personally i just love collecting vinyl and since i already have the digital's of the songs a vinyl would be my personal top pick.  And then if you were to be able to throw in some other goodies along with it, I would be all over it.  Thanks for getting this out there!

I would like to book you on a gig in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
If you can take your band on this 2-3 days trip, please send me a note.

Thanks!

I have Coup on my iPod.  Of course, I also had The Slip on my iPod.  I then bought a CD of The Slip.  If I respect the artist and love the music I am always down for purchasing the physical product to support the endeavor.  There is no question that I would pay for a physical release of Coup.  And though you signed my copy of Broken in June I would love to have a signed copy of Coup.

Come play in Rhode Island! You can come crash with me and my girlfriend and her damn cats.  The fat one licks everything she can when you pet her.  It's quite a spectacular sight to see.

If a physical copy of Coup was available i would definately buy it. It would definately help in spreading the word, i agree with  Squall, the king of Yaoi (who just posted below me) as regards to doing something like the Slip.

I would go to see you guys on tour also, but i doubt that will happen as i live Ireland.

good luck with whatever you choose
