Hey everyone, Bob here.  It's been a good run, but after 5 years and 2 albums, Horror of '59 is crawling off into the graveyard beyond the woods.  Due to completely understandable real life circumstances, our drummer Brent was unable to keep playing in the band.  I suppose we could have kept on going with a new drummer, but it just didn't seem right.  We already lost our two founding members, Deke and M. Balmer, some time ago.  So it just feels like it's time to let the band die.  At least everybody is still friends, so while I'm sad to see it end, it's not such a bad way to go out.

I can only speak for myself, but this has been the best experience playing in a band I've had in the over 20 years of making music.  It really made me happy that so many people seemed to genuinely like what we were doing.  All of you who came out to see our shows or just wrote us a message saying you liked our music made it worthwhile, and I think in this case I can speak for all members of Horror of '59 past and present when I say thank you.

I also want to thank all the bands we've played with, the clubs and promoters who booked us, the people who helped us get our albums out (Mike Albertson, Lacey Petrovich, and Charles Abou-Chebl), the great artists who did logos, fliers, and album covers for us (especially "Big Tony" and Mitch O'Connell), and of course everyone who has been in this band over the years:  "Deke" Taylor, Mike "M. Balmer" Taylor , Tommy "Horror" Tadsen, Brent "Bastard" Hathaway, Jimbo "Jimmy Dale Killmore" Hissem, Tommy Roulette, Sugar Wildman, and Dennis A. Bell who filled in for Tommy Horror for one show.  Extra special thanks to Deke and M. Balmer, because they started the band.

At this time there are no plans for any special "last show".  Sugar and I plan to fulfill Horror of 59's Cleveland area comittments for June and July with a guest drummer and me on guitar.  We'll be playing Horror of '59 songs, but it won't be Horror of '59.  If you need a name, just call us "Sort of '59".

Stay sick,

Bob "Noxious" Ignizio

Youse guys just broke my heart.

I understand about the drummer situation. Most people don't think of a drummer as being a major part of a band's sound, but if you take one factor out of the equation it can mess up the whole recipe. I hope this at least spawns some new projects from various members of the band. You guys were awesome. R.I.P.

Glad you enjoyed the band while we were around. As for future projects, it looks like Horror of '59 will be splitting into two parts. Tommy has gotten together with original Horror of '59 members Deke and M. Balmer for an old school hardcore band called Pay to Bleed. Meanwhile, Sugar and I plan to keep working together. I'm not sure exactly what it'll sound like, but most likely it'll be more garagey/surfy, but not in a slavishly retro way (I hope).

Well shit the bed!. I'm sorry to hear that. If it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't have gotten laid, or should I say raped, while I moved back to Ohio last winter. Sorry to hear that ladies and germs. Best of wishes to all who had something to do with the band. RIP Fiends!

This sucks, I love both your CDs. Is there any unreleased stuff you can make available to us?

There's not much in the way of studio recordings.  There's one really short song called "The Thing in the Basement" that got left off of 'Screams From the Cellar', some early demos from when the band was just Deke and M. Balmer, and some alternate versions of the songs on 'Golden Age of Sin'.  Other than that, we have a few live recordings of songs that were never released - "Little Bastard", "Haunting You Again" (with 2 different sets of lyrics), "Eve Was Framed", "Splinter in the Eye", and "Transformation".  Maybe when things settle down (I'm in the midst of moving right now) I'll talk to the guys about putting together some kind of MP3 download with the best of the leftovers.
