Buckman Art Show & Sell

Hey Teresa,

Thanks for your question. I'll try to clarify here... Buckman Elementary School has two simultaneous benefit events happening on April 11:

1. The Buckman Bash (doors open at 7pm on Friday, April 11 at the Jupiter Hotel, 800 E. Burnside, Portland) -- beginning with a fabulous live auction of artwork by Portland's hottest artists. Stephen Malkmus and James Mercer will begin their solo sets around 9:00pm. Tickets are on sale now at brownpapertickets.com and Jackpot Records, and I'm betting they'll sell out soon!

2. Also happening that night is the Buckman Art Show & Sell, a great big art festival taking place at Buckman Elementary School, 320 SE 16th Avenue. The Art Show & Sell, 5pm to 9pm Friday April 11, also features live music -- with Ed Bennett and Tony Pacini playing some great jazz while art buyers shop for art and craft. The art festival continues the next day, Saturday, April 12, from 10am to 5pm. Tickets are sold at the door.

Hope that clears things up! It's a big weekend for Buckman Elementary, and both events benefit the school's award-winning arts-integrated academic program. Hope to see you there! Thanks!

Karen

As a parent of a Buckman third grader, I went to this event and I just wanted to thank James again for an amazing show... It was an unprecedented opportunity to see my favorite musician ever in such an intimate setting... I hope it won't be the last time! (And next time, I hope the kids who benefit from the proceeds can be there too) :)
