I do believe that I am quite taken by Moment of Surrender. Nothing else so far has tripped my trigger, but that is not knew for me when you guys put out new work.
 

Awesome album by an awesome band. Every track is really starting to grow on me.
 

No Line On The Horizon apresenta-se como que uma viagem ao passado, já que comporta sonoridades apresentadas pela banda em trabalhos anteriores, nomeadamente nos álbuns "The Unforgettable Fire" (1984), "Achtung Baby" (1991), "All That You Can't Leave Behind" (2001) e "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" (2004). Tudo isto misturado acaba por resultar em algo diferente mas... não muito! Sendo evidentes as colagens aos anteriores trabalhos. .. ..O novo disco abre com o tema que dá nome ao próprio álbum "No Line On The Horizon". É um tema forte mas muito semelhante à sonoridade do "Achtung Baby", particularmente com as canções "The Fly" e "Ultra Violet (Light My Way)" com alguns sons electrónicos à mistura. .. ..Segue-se a faixa 2: "Magnificent". Para mim um dos melhores temas deste álbum. Recorda-me o som de "The Unforgettable Fire". O riff de guitarra do The Edge é absolutamente genial. "Only love can leave such a mark; Only love can leave such a scar" são momentos que ficam logo na cabeça e ficam para sempre! É um verdadeiro hino! .. ..Faixa 3: "Moment Of Surrender". É o tema mais longo do álbum, são cerca de 7'24'', pouco comum nos U2 em canções de estúdio. A canção começa com uma demonstração de que o Bono está aí para as curvas, o registo vocal no início está ao alcance apenas de alguns. De salientar também o solo de guitarra do The Edge, já por volta dos 5 minutos de música (pena ser excessivamente curto). Já para o final, a música vai-se desvanecendo em sucessivos Oh Oh Ooooh, mas não deixa de ser inspirador. .. ..Faixa 4: "Unknown Caller" outra "longa-metragem" que ultrapassa os 6 minutos. É outro tema com muitas partes cantadas em coro e com muitos Oh Oh Ooooh à semalhança do tema anterior. Mais uma vez, a abeirar os 5 minutos, um brilhante solo de guitarra de arrepiar. .. ..Faixa 5: "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight". Talvez o tema mais bonito e mais fácil de se gostar à primeira audição. .. ..Faixa 6: O single "Get On Your Boots". Acho que já disse tudo sobre este tema (é uma Vertigo - parte II). Por que razão foi incluído no álbum??? .. ..Faixa 7: "Stand Up Comedy". Este tema, juntamente com a faixa 10 (Breathe) permitem ao tema "Get On Your Boots" ficar menos deslocado no álbum... É uma interpretação rock bem conseguida, com um riff de guitarra bem forte. .. ..Faixa 8: "FEZ - Being Born". Tema gravado em Fez (Marrocos). Notam-se algumas influências sonoras locais, nomeadamente no início. Mais uma vez os recursos aos coros e, talvez o uso excessivo de orgão sintetizador. .. ..Faixa 9: "White As Snow". Para mim, é a melhor canção do álbum. E porquê? Porque é talvez o tema mais intenso do álbum, apesar de se apresentar num registo mais calmo e melancólico. Além disso, exibe uma sonoridade pouco usual nos U2, daí a minha preferência (originalidade). O vocal está mais que perfeito! É raro ouvir o Bono cantar da forma como o faz neste tema, num tom mais comedido, lamurioso tal como o faz em "Cedars Of Lebanon" e já o fez em temas como "Grace", "Please" ou "The First Time". Penso que o futuro dos U2 passará por canções muito próximas deste registo fabuloso que é "White As Snow". Até porque a voz do Bono não deverá pemitir grandes "picos" à medida que os anos vão passando... É um tema altamente evocativo, inspirador, com uma sonoridade crua e sem adornos. Adoro esta canção! .. ..Faixa 10: "Breathe". Mais uma boa malha rock, mas nada de novo... .. ..Faixa 11: "Cedars Of Lebanon". É assim que se fecha este novo capítulo da vida dos U2, com os Cedros do Líbano. Agrada-me este tema. Agrada-me porque é diferente, melancólico como "White As Snow". Parece-me que há neste tema uma inspiração bíblica, muito comum nas letras do Bono. .. ..Concluindo, porque o juízo já vai longo, há neste novo álbum uma colagem às sonoridades anteriormente utilizadas pela banda sim senhora, mas... eu considero isto normal. Vejamos, se existem tantas bandas, criadas recentemente, a "copiar" o estilo dos U2 (devido ao seu sucesso ímpar), por que razão os U2 não podem copiarem-se a eles próprios? .. ..Eu, que aprecio a banda desde muito tenra idade devo reconhecer que estava à espera de um novo ponto de ruptura com o passado. Esperava algo verdadeiramente surpreendente, tal como foi o "Achtung Baby", o "Zooropa" ou o "Pop". Contudo, como já referi existem momentos musicais de uma singularidade extraordinária neste álbum. .. ..Aconselho a sua audição com insistência, pois vale a pena!

THANK YOU. This is a feast for the heart and soul, as well as the ears. I cannot say yet which song is my favorite, as each hits a nail... .. ...... .. ..It is so great to have an album that I can play over and over and not grow tired of. Again. ...We carry all these experiences with us .... all our lives, and eventually, it really takes effect on us ... on others ... I really felt the emotions blow through this album into my soul, these strong emotions of yours ... We keep moving towards this 'line on the horizon' and when we finally get there or close to this peaceful state, I guess that's where we see there is no line afterall ... and it becomes more and more familiar, more and more peaceful ... and soon fades away, the division of black and white ... I've been to flat places like the cover in the album to feel connected to it somehow ... the shades of grey in CD cover balance out well our opposite energy levels within ourselves (black & white, male & female) ... like experiencing a death before a birth. As cheesy as it is - I have to say in the somber depressing moods that surround us due to the state of affairs everywhere - I was happy today.
