Inner Surge is defunct unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective. And this is quite old news, but it needs to be written in stone. There will be no new music or live performances, offerings of any kind from this band. The site has been maintained in the past year to facilitate the further spreading of the music to new listeners, and I also considered the option of starting over with a new live lineup and a new album. Internal difficulties mainly, as well as to a lesser extent our dealings with some particularly shady people, were what stopped things. I don't think it's respectful to the former members to comment on the personal or internal difficulties. It's all in the past and there is no point in exchanging negativity of any kind. In fact, most of the band's story is of friendship, comradery and sharing the music we loved. The band was simply not meant to go on any further in that particular form. The band members from Inner Surge's final lineup, Bryan Sandau and Scott Taylor, are both excellent musicians and I hope you'll hear a lot from them in the future. They currently play for a Calgary-based band called Truck alongside Casey Rogers (who was Inner Surge's live bassist in 2008 - another great musician), and the music written so far is top notch.

I started Inner Surge alone in my very amateur home studio in 2001, wrote the first 2 albums and built it from the ground up while going through a series of live lineup changes. The band has released 4 albums and 2 music videos to date. It was very personally difficult for me when, after releasing "An Offering" in 2008 (an album I am proud of to this day), it became apparent that we could not advance in our current situation.

I'd like to express my gratitude to all the Inner Surge fans and everyone who has checked us out and got something from the music over the years. All the press who have been on our side even though not many bands were doing what we were trying to do. All the people who downloaded our music and spread the word all over the place, even the people who uploaded and downloaded torrents, we would not have been heard so much without you. In hindsight, I think we came closest to our ultimate goal on "An Offering", and tracks like "Interahamwe", which turned out to be somewhat misunderstood, though I know for a fact many "got it". I've received more emails from people positively affected by the music than I have from holocaust deniers or people who "wish I would be strapped to a bomb and dropped in Iraq". Let's put this thing to a close and move forward.

I'd also like to see all the Inner Surge fans and all members of our mailing list/e-team over at www.theunravellingmusic.com. This site will be maintained for a few months yet but will then be closed. The Unravelling is my new project and the upcoming CD "13 Arcane Hymns" is near completion. It is a hopeful bright light after extremely dark times and I'm excited for you all to hear it. Thank you for everything.

All the best and keep enjoying the music,
Steve Moore
