I have to say that The Killers are my favorite band of the last few years, all their tracks are great!
The latest disc,SAWDUST,includes the track,TRANQUILIZE featuring Uncle Lou Reed. I gotta say this is as good as anything either Lou or David has ever put out.
THE KILLERS ARE GREAT! The disc also includes a great cover of Mel Tillis' Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town , made famous by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition and one off my wife's favorite tunes.
The disc is a collection of odds and sods , covers etc..... and also includes their version of ,believe or not, Dire Straits, Romeo and Juliet!

I had the pleasure of meeting their drummer, Ronnie Vannucci, at this years NAMM Show, not only is he a really great drummer, but also a really nice kid. Cheers Ronnie!
The other two discs,HOT FUSS and SAM'S TOWN are both outstanding. Dare I say I hear some familiar influences in their sound?

Do U get the idea? THE KILLERS ARE GREAT!!!! CB
Sarah

I always thought Mr Brightside had a definate 'Dreaming' influence in there! So yeah brilliant but familiar LOL
They are headlining Leeds festival this year - Matt can't wait!

I was hooked on The Killers from the moment I heard Mr Brightside. I didn't even realise at first they were from The States because I heard a few Brit bands in their sound. Not Fuss at one point was hardly off my player at home and in the car. It's up there in my list of favourite albums of all time.

I saw a docu on them a while back and was chuffed to see they admitted to being into Brit pop & Indie and are great fans of Oasis. Totally agree Clem about Ronnie Vannucci jnr. ages ago we did a thread on one of the forum about drummers the usual suspects were included including you of course and I added him. I had their version Romeo & Juliet on my myspace player for a while but it was a bit left field compared with all the other tracks I have on there but don't own a single Dire Straits track but always liked that track so was made up The Killers covered it. I do though own a Kenny Rogers album and only because I too love Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town (you could base a film/book on that one track) and also She Believes In me - so I bought it.

I agree The Killers are great! They are part of what I like to call the "new wave of classic rock bands" and I have always enjoyed their music. They do seem to have a Blondie-esque sound at times, maybe that's why I love them ;D

Agreed Clem...they are also my favorite of the newer bands...they are tight and the music is just plain awesome. I guess I love them BECAUSE of the familiar influences you mentioned...they pay homage by reinterpreting it and making all sound new and fresh. They are definitely going to be around a while.

Hope you see you on tour. Have a great one!
Tony
