Peter Maybury – Messages Sonores

For Messages sonores Peter Maybury will produce an initial CD of recordings from a specific location - sounds from the street, birds, footsteps or domestic sounds - conversation, pouring water, sweeping the floor. These sounds are collated using simple editing techniques and sequenced/composed to in some way suggest movement and the passing of time.

The CDs, distributed free of charge through Third Wave Music in Sligo will include with them an invitation to participate in the project. Participants will be loaned an audio-recorder to use over a one week period. Peter will then edit and compile these recordings, and produce an edition of CDs for further distribution.

Peter Maybury is an artist, musician and graphic designer. This work is drawn from “Familiar objects are in my room”, an on-going body of work concerning the processing and representing of experience, and the gaps between reason, experience, recollection, and representation.
