I'm glad to see some order coming to Washington Lawmakers and politicians. I like Obama's salary freeze!!! This
whole economy spinning out of control, with companies closing, people
losing jobs, got me thinking...where does profit end and corporate
greed begin? And for the individual...where does enjoying things in
life end and excessive spending begin? It goes beyond how much you
make. It is a no brainer where that line is if you are broke...you
can't spend. Or-you should not spend beyond essentials. What happens if
you can't afford the essentials. What constitutes the essentials?
Interesting. How little do we really need. How much do we really want.
But, if you do have a job and money...at what point does getting "things" turn to foolishness. Perhaps
the issue at hand is one of intention. In the case of these mega
corporations, the intent is to increase profit. The question is at what
point does that intent compromise and become selfish greed. I know, a
free economy...a free market economy. But-is that without
responsibility and morality. Is it profit at any price? The large
corporations with the top fat cats and golden parachutes cutting the
rest of the company to skeletal proportions! Is there not a point where
the human factor exceeds the profit margin? How about polluting the
environment without responsibility in the name of profit. How about
putting tainted or less than quality ingredients purposely deceiving
the consumer in the name of profit? Then, on an individual
level...how many shoes does an individual need before "enjoying life
crosses the line to foolishness?" Is it relative to how much money you
make? Or, how much you really need? I wonder. Is it a clearly defined
number? Maybe six tablecloths isn't sufficient for your entertaining
needs. Maybe you need a new bedspread every season. Do you. Do I? Is
that enjoying life or excessive stuff? I don't know. I don't profess to
have all the answers. Well, maybe sometimes! LOL! But really, I think
the "human factor" needs to be elevated beyond "self." You can
legislate morality. Just something to think about as I hear of more companies closing and cutting jobs.
