Coming in January... Baja Bands & El Punto House of Rock -
Hi, I'm Larry. Some of you know me and some of you don't. I have been in Ensenada for a little over 2-years working with local bands to get their videos on YouTube and their music on MySpace [check out our YouTube channel:

We Need Venues to build a Music SceneBesides each band working on their own projects, many of us are working together to build a music scene in Ensenada. One thing we've been working on is finding venues that would host original music and where we could get the bands paid.
Finding Venues:If you've been following the music scene in Ensenada, it's pretty typical that "cover-bands" get paid and original bands don't. It makes it hard for original bands to buy equipment, travel or stay together, so it's really important when we can get a club to work with us to present original music.
Getting Crowds:Everybody says that original bands don't bring "big-enough" crowds, but I think that's because we need better publicity. The other thing is that there are very few "all ages" venues in Ensenada, so the crowd that really likes some of the new and original music usually has to wait for parties to hear the local bands they like. I believe that if we network with each other on MySpace and promote local events where MySpace friends of one group can get together with MySpace friends of another group, we'd have our own local "space" to hang out with all of our MySpace friends.
Selling Tickets:That's where you come in...
I figured the fairest way to do it was to give the bands 50% of the ticket sales. So every time you buy a ticket from one of these bands, you know you are REALLY supporting the band! We also decided to keep ticket prices low so people can afford to come back every week... That's the key! When you can hang out with your friends every week!
El Punto House of Rock & Baja Bands:So I signed a contract with
El Punto House of Rock to provide original bands on Friday Nights starting in January. If we can get the crowds to come, we can have Fridays forever!
El Punto House of Rock is on the East side of Primera and Lopez Mateo:
Between Ave. Riveroll & Ave Alvarado.El Punto House of Rock is a club with a great stage. We will put on ALL AGES shows. No alcohol will be served upstairs. Alcohol will only be served downstairs at the bar. We'll be able to videotape these bands at no-charge and continue to put them on YouTube if you can help us support these shows.
