Current mood: accomplished
Wow what a month!!!!
I told you April would be busy and surely it would not dissappoint. As I mentioned in the earlier blog I got some time off and traveled to Las Vegas to watch my friend compete in the Miss USA pageant. But all play and no work makes for a dull Miss Black GA USA right?;0)LOL. Just kidding. I am fortunate enough to say that most of the work I do with my title is fun so I do feel like I'm playing sometimes.
That rang very true for the Enchanted Closet- Prom dress event I got to work for. I'm not sure if they were around when I was in high school but they are an awesome organization that donates prom attire (even accessories and make up) to young girls who may not be able to afford the glitz and glamour of preparing for prom. It was truly a joy to watch those young ladies get excited when they finally found "the one". To be apart of that experience for someone was so gratifying; what a wonderful program!
I also got a chance to make my way to Macon to participate in the annual Pan-African Festival. As Holly, Ms. Black GA USA, got the chance to judge, I had the awesome opportunity of meeting and greeting the participants of the Miss Pan-African Princess Pageant as well as debut my talent for Miss Black USA.....thank God they didn't boo so I guess it'll work!!;0) The staff and sponsors were incredible and it was an honor to be able to spread the message of Miss Black GA USA to the attendees and participants. For the record, everyone needs to stop at the KFC before you get on I-16 the green beans are SWINGIN'!!
My travels for the month didn't stop there as I ventured to Salt Lake City, UT and back to Macon to finish the festivities for the Pan-African Festival. I have never been in a parade in a limo...and not just any limo, a stretch Hummer Limo!!! Yep that's right! Don't hate;0)LOL
Truly I can say I know what it feels like to be treated like royalty. Macon rolled out the red carpet big time and I am so grateful for their hospitality. And yes those green beans were still SWINGIN'!!
I've also began volunteering with Clayton County's literacy project--Read to Achieve. Reading is such an invaluable tool to impart on our children. Shout out to Seqouyah Middle School and R.T. Smith Elementary!! Way to use those SAT words;0).
Last but certainly not least....April 18th--the national holiday that only I celebrate! That was a special day. It was the day that everything did go my way. That day was the day that I was born...it was my birthday!! Hey!! and I had it goin' on! It's birthday, it's my birthday, it's my birthday, it's my birthday ye yah!!! ( ha,..thanks Ryan Cameron for the best birthday song ever!!)
Seriously, God is so good and I thank him for the many blessings he has bestowed upon me this year and I look forward for the year ahead as he sees fit.
Until next time....BE BLESSED!!!!!
