We lost one of the saviors of hip hop and one of the greatest producers of all time to lupus.

For those of you who have never heard of Jay Dee, you've probably heard his work.

have a look.  also get the new album Donuts.  most of which was recorded on a portable studio while he was in the hospital.  amazing!!!

For real. He's the most revered urban producer in the game. An inspiration to us all.

I recently discovered Jay Dee and his music through my involvement with an urban music production company. Everyone spoke of him in reverential tones, and hearing after a few seconds of any of his tracks, I immediately understood why. He created some of the most soulful music I've ever heard. People, go out and get The Shining as well... if you're not hip to Dilla yet, you're missing out.
