Death is a funny thing. You never know when your time will come. I suppose it's best to NOT think about it...

Every now and then you'll hear someone say "Live each day as if it were your last." Perhaps more fitting: "Death comes like a thief in the night" (when it is least expected). Nonetheless, it's always troubling to read about the death of an innocent someone...

A 20-year old Oneida County man died after attending the K-Rockathon in Central New York last month.

Death. If it seems like more people are dying, it's probably because more people in the public eye are passing away: the number of people including celebrities and politicians who are in the line of vision of that public eye has dramatically increased since 1995 with the advent of the Internet. Factor in that many of the VIPs who were prominent in the 1950s, 60s and 70s (and even 80s) public eyes are getting longer and longer in the tooth.

Tim Russert, George Carlin, Randy Pausch, Tony Snow, DJ K-Swift and Bernie Mac are just a few who have very recently crossed the river.

So, it's not that more people are dying. It's that in this digital age we are aware of and are following more people. Don't feel bad. Death is the part of life. Yet another reason to "live each day as if it were your last."
