Dear Internet-

Things I’m Pumped About-

1: Seeing Someone Still Loves Your Boris Yeltsin TWICE in May! Once at Modified! Fucking Modified!

2: Seeing RADIOHEAD in May!

3: Playing the show at Luce tomorrow night. Oh yeah, we have a show.

4: Getting a couple of "Triple Mankind" by Hands on Fire.

5: Getting to see Courtney Marie Andrews perform.

6: Spring break...

Details:

1: I love SSLYBY. They’re incredible. They make smart, accessible pop music, which is what aspire for. Side note, it blows my mind how many different ways there are to make pop music. Their new album, Pershing, sounds like it’s going to be incredible. I’ve declined to pick up a pirated copy because I’m so excited to buy a copy, take it home, and sit and listen to the entire thing in one sitting, multiple times in a row.

2: I’m going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my sister and see RADIOHEAD. Atlanta is so great, and Radiohead is maybe in their second prime. I win. I’m getting drunk with my sister, listening to great music, and enjoying amazing Atlanta.

3:We’re playing Cafe Luce tomorrow, and I’m excited for it. Thus far, we’ve only played kind of louder shows, and I’ve really wanted to tap into that American Analogue/ mellow Deathcab vibe, and this is our first foray into that. The instrumentation is: Acoustic guitar, Electric guitar, upright bass (yeah, I know. We’re so cool...), electric reed organ, and brushed drums. I’m wetting myself in excitement.

4: We’ve played with Hands On Fire twice now, and I’ve really enjoyed talking with them and seeing them perform each time. I was ambivelent about the song "Cracked Drums" at first, but I’ve been listening to that and "Mold Blanket" on repeat the last few days, and they’re incredible. I’ll be back in phx around the same time that those guys get back from tour, and I’ll be able to pick up a copy. I’m really excited. I am worried that I’m being too much of a scary fan towards them though...I can’t help it, I love the songs.

5: My friend Blake from Beyond The Citadel showed me this girl’s music yesterday. It’s fucking incredible. She’s 17. 17! Her voice is amazing, her lyrics tackle universal topics, but do it elegantly and with a hint of wit and wry humor. I’m so thoroughly impressed. I wrote her an email about collaborating and playing a show together, and she’s seemed responsive. I’ve really wanted to work with a female song writer with her style and and voice, and I’m really hoping she’s into it to. I’m actually kind of nervous, what if she doesn’t? Anyway...She’ll be performing at Trunkspace while i’m in phx, so I get to see her live. I may not be able to sleep until then.

6: It’s spring break. Of course I’m into it. Girls With Low Self-esteem, anyone?

I love you.
