Hey eveybody! I know it's been awhile...busy, busy, busy! Musicians dream week for me this week in the studio two days and gigs Tuesday through Sunday...
The CD is coming along nicely. Gonna do background vocals today with Tom & Tommy, some guitar solos, and some horns on one song. The CD title (so far) is "Neverchange"...you know how you come across those moments in life when everything is good and right and you think, 'I love this, I'll never change a thing' and then of course the world keeps spinning and things and/or people end up changing...That's what Neverchange is about. Some people might be surprised at the slight stylistic change on this CD...it's still got a Texas Country/Outlaw twang on it, but it also rocks pretty well - I think anyone who has seen us live would say if you listen to "Trained Professionals" and "Neverchange" you would have a good overall picture of the band...Some of the songs are old, that I've been playing 20 years and others are brand new that I had to teach the musicians in the studio...but they're all pros and it's really coming together nicely... I intend to be very proud of the final product.
Playing live a lot this week - acoustic shows Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday and Full Band gigs Fri and Saturday...Sunday we're on the main stage at Heads or Tails (Hwy 2094) @ 5 pm, performing for the Bay Area Musicians Alliance (BAMA) This is a multi-band show which is helping raise money for musicians who've lost equipment due to Ike...I invite everyone to come and support!
Well we're finally into April, and April 26th is the Texas Music Awards...as I've mentioned before Justin Lowe (piano) has been nominated for Musician of the Year for his performance on "Trained Professionals"...Michael Martin Murphy is the host for the awards and then is performing a full concert after. We are all pretty excited about it...
