Current mood: frustrated
Mispronunciation is as much a part of hip hop as sampling James Brown records and skeet skeetin' on hoes. Usually it's a good thing... like how Kanye cleverly slaughters 'apologizing' on "Can't Tell Me Nothin."
but Kanye can tell u how lame it is to have your NAME pronounced wrong (see verse 2, "Diamonds From Sierra Lione")
It happens all the time and I'm guilty too.... wasn't long ago I was callin Wale a Whale and saying that Kid Cudi had Kid Cooties and what have you. Depending on what Diddy is going by lately, chances are I mispronounced his name 2 seconds ago.
Sometimes u needa just step in and correct situations like this. so to make a long story short:
since I first donned this pesky moniker of mine... it's pretty much been split down the middle as to HOW u pronounce the damn thing. Half said it like 'Re-mott,' half said it like 'Remote.' After careful consideration (or the recognition that it sounded cooler), I decided it would be pronounced like 'Remote.' U know, like a remote control. Remotely. Remoted. REE - MOAT
so in review: it is NOT pronounced like Re-mott.... but rather....
REMOTE!!!
....
maybe I'll have to put a little accent mark over the 'o.' I dunno
I know what ur thinking... "why not just put an 'e' at the end u pasty bastard?" Cuz there's a reason I go by that name. Doesn't take a genius to figure it out, but I didn't choose the shit cuz I was thinking what to call myself one day and decided it'd be cool to go by the thing you adjust your television with. I don't even watch TV.
So there u have it. Thanks for listening. Thanks for pronouncing my name at all. Let's get it right tho lol
sincerely yours,
Remot
....
u better have pronounced it right lol
