Hello New World,
Welcome to my first blog of the 08. What a year 07 turned out to be. There were some ups, some downs, some love lost, some love found. The funny thing is that my new years resoultion last year was to become The Producer of the Year. You dont have to believe me, but it really came to fruition. This year my resolution is to get a national placement. If it doesnt come close to happening by summer I will be taking more drastic measures.
I finished my album this morning. It took over a year to get from point A to point B. When I listen to the first couple of songs I recorded to the material I got now, its just plain crazy. Anything is possible with dedication and energy. A memory in 07 that will stick in my head is when I did my first show and a dude in the crowd knew 2 of the 4 songs i performed word for word. That really messed me up. What a compliment! I am going to continue producing and recording like there is no tomorrow because thats what I love. If people feel it then thats great, if not then i will still keep doing me. This year, like last year, will change my life.
I need your help though. I named my album AUDIO INTEGRITY last year before all the Blueberry Hill stuff popped off. For obvious reasons I want to change the name of the album, but I am drawing a blank. Any suggestions?
So onto the trivial stuff, New Years party. What did I do? Well I was supposed to go to Bar Italia where Trackstar was spinning and my homies FREETIME were doing whatever they do when they throw parties. Unfortunately I didnt make it. I was also supposed to go to the 555 building, but I didnt make it there either. So what did I do you ask? My roomate and I had a couple people over that we respect on a intellectual level and conversated over drinks and papa johns pizza. It was exactly how I wanted to spend my New Year. No sweaty club, no $9 drinks, just good people in my lovely palace. What did you do?
Just a side note, why does IOWA get so much say in politics. Im just now starting to understand this caucaus stuff and I am really clueless on why Iowa gets so much attention. Oh yeah and if Rudy Giuliani gets the GOP nod, then I am moving to MEXICO. Real talk.
Tef is close to finishing his album and I must admit, I hate that dude. He is making some incredible music. Im not just saying that because I am apart of this project, I like the songs he does over other people beats more than mine. Maybe because i am over analytical on my own music, but nonetheless it is incredible. If you are a Tef Poe fan you will not be disappointed.
Tef and I are also a few more songs into our expiremental project, but mums the word on that one. Look for the myspace page to be erected (no homo) soon. Under the name The Derelix.
I have felt out of touch with some of my good industry friends because of holidays and schedules so if your reading this, then we need to hook up (pause).
My online mixtape is still available and we are slow burning the downloads. We just reached over 100 which is nothing compared to others, but I'm the type of dude that appreciates every last person that contributed to that 100 downloads. The response from the folks that did grab it was awesome and I am currently working on gathering music from part two. The only place to go is up so thats where we are headed.
I wanna take a break from music talk to mention relationships for a minute. I have been in all types of relationships with all different types of women. All brought something to the table that was unique and special. I left every relationship with a better understanding of who I am and what I want. In the wake of all the madness that is my life, I no longer yearn for random encounters. I seek something deeper than that. I also feel that my priorities are already set, so a new one gets placed low on the list. Now your asking, "Why is this dude talking relationships?" Well its because I am human, and you are too. Its been in my heart for awhile to find someone, but you know the minute your not looking thats, when it finds you. I am simply looking for a connection with someone. No more loose wires. So in that light I leave you with this weeks song that I want you to listen to. Its called "Loose Wires" and it is from one of my favorite artists KENNA.
Click here for Kenna's Myspace" (ed. note. I know someone who will read this and get mad, but please refrain from anger...)
Starting this week I am going to list some artists that you should check out in my very humble opinion. Hip-Hop and music in general cannot die if we dont let it. So until the next time we meet. Peace and love.
