Who Gives Kudos:

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

And yet again, we get the sad news of losing another incredible musician.

This one leaves us but arrives fully prepared with his lovely composition, "The Great Gig In The Sky"

Everyone on this earth has heard this song at one point in their existence.

It's a sad loss yet for a man I did not know personally, but I certainly felt his presence growing up and being a young boy listening to records and radio constantly.  I grew up with him and yet we never met.

It's a presence that really resonated thru out many experiences and took me to many places, spiritually and musically.

It really has always been in my heart. It remains there.

I reach for this music when I'm not comprehending the low levels and disenchantment that music can reach when it's not interesting or breaking new ground anymore. Rock n Roll has been to those "lows" recently with this present generation. Rock Music is certainly struggling now. Today's radio bands lack the qualities and songwriting abilities to evolve into a "supergroup" that can stand the test of time. That term "supergroup" doesn't even exist like it should in today's rock evolution. It's such a struggle to really attempt to listen to the present state of Rock Music.

The "classic" rock radio stations are constantly rehashing and reminding us of how beautiful music can really be when we revisit the past.

Listening to something that influences the future and stands up on it's own, yet written almost 30 years ago….how blessed is that?

The Pink Floyd are really now a part of that past. All hope for them to return and give us a spark of that amazing sound has officially come to a sad ending.

We lose Rick Wright, one of the most impressive, simple and effective keyboardist in rock history, who was such a magical ingredient for the Pink Floyd sound. Without him, it's useless and now too late to attempt any reunion ever.

That music will always transcend future generations and what may not have been important to the members of the band due to BS conflict and differences to ever regroup and play, certainly was most important for everyone who's lives were affected by that amazing sound…..that music affected everyone who heard it from the minute the first chord came to light.…..what a shame that it's no longer going to be the same.

The Music should have mattered most and first while there was still time for one last hurrah.

The world really was waiting.

I'm extremely grateful that their music means alot to me….

and grateful that it has always been in my heart.

That chair behind that Hammond organ now remains to be left alone.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for inspiring my life with your music.

For being a bright light in my sky.

Would you like to say, something before you leave

Perhaps you'd care to state exactly how you feel

We say goodbye, before we say hello

         And how do you feel?

                                            You will me missed

He made Animals my favorite Floyd album.

He was okay.
