a little late in posting part 5 here. my thoughts that i wouldn't be online too much on tour proved right. anyway, we loaded up the volvo station wagon on wednesday with everything except our trumpet player kenneth roebuck. it was sad. we would be a quartet for the second leg of the tour, and i would have to attempt to cover a few trumpet parts on the guitar and cover some background vocals, a job i did pretty poorly most of the time. rad.

first stop was boston. on the way we realized that i have a small bladder and had to pee every ten minutes because i drank 19,475 cups of coffee. also relevant from the drive was the christening of pretty much everything as "hot joseph." good times. we played PA's lounge in somerville. the show was good but then some band borrowed our bass amp and blew it. rad. but we had good friends come hang and had a great time. the bartender gave us our drink tickets and said they were good for the house brew. "yeah," he said, "our house brew is... is..." and we waited for him to describe some detail about some microbrew we didn't care about, and then he finished his sentence, "...bud light. sometimes it's pbr, sometimes high life, sometimes natty light. tonight is bud light." that dude ruled. later gina, col, and jing had a little run in with a boston police officer: "i don't know how you do it in new jersey," he said, "but it's not the smahtest thing to cut ahhff a cahp. and get those bags out of the back so you can see who ya cutting ahhff."

i stayed that night with my good friend liz and her boyfriend vic, and with my old feline friends rocco and laverne. in the morning vic gave me a clawhammer banjo lesson and a roscoe holcomb record, and we shared espresso and granola with yogurt. the band picked me up and we had to stop off at a guitar store to try to fix the bass amp, and then take off to burlington.
