There's a lot happening in the Providence Slam community as we kick off the 2009-2010 season!!

* First off, there's the slam season itself: our next major show is this November 5th when we'll have the first Youth Slam of the year hosted by Richard Edouard-Denor and featuring 2-time Individual World Poetry Slam finalist Omoizele "Oz" Okoawo!!  Here are the details in convenient, easy-to-read list form:

Thursday, November 5th

AS220 - 115 Empire St.

* The Musicians' Open Mic is still going strong every third Thursday of the month - we promise you won't hear any agonizing "Stairway" covers!  The next show features the 2009 Women of the World poetry slam champion Rachel McKibbens, whose many accolades include two appearances on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and multiple National Poetry Slam team memberships!  Come check it out:

* Next, a congratulations to Providence co-Slam Master Megan Thoma who, in her first appearance representing Providence at this year's Indy World Poetry Slam, finished in the Top 30 out of a massive field of competing poets!

* And last but not least, Strange Famous Records has released the first video by Prayers For Atheists - the band led by longtime Providence Slam hosts Jared Paul and Alan Hague.  Check out the video for "Bike Song" here:
