Time magazine has a very critical cover story in its Aug. 31 issue about the state of American food and farming. While they profess to support our work as growers, the magazine's writers and editors clearly need to be educated about modern agriculture.
Please join NCGA in sending a letter to the editor about your experiences as a grower. After all, our growers are the industry's best spokespersons.
Here are a few ideas:
1. Tell Time magazine about how you are a multigenerational family farm. In fact, 95 percent of corn farms in the United States are family farms.
2. Talk about what you do to protect the environment, such as conservation tillage, and how you've reduced inputs, like use GPS to make better use of your land and save fuel costs.
3. Let America know where your corn is going - how you're growing food, feed and/or fuel for a growing population.
If you're not a grower, you can still share your experiences in knowing and working with family farmers.

Thanks for your time!
