SOB’s SOL Village on a rainy Wednesday night was treated to way more than good drinks (try the Hawaiian Martini) and semi-decent covers of the Billboard Top 100.

AAries. Twin sisters Ayana and Ayinke Hipps make up this dynamic R&B/Soul singing duo. The two first caught the crowd’s attention as they made their way to the stage with their bold fashion (
O So VERY Chic). But looks can only get you so far, and as they began to sing it was clear that their look was complimentary to their talent. Sure everyone was happy to sing along with the girls to a STELLAR rendition of Lauryn Hill’s
Doo Wop (That Thing), but it was the performance of their song
Your Woman that most excited the after-work crowd.
The people at SOBs probably thought they discovered a gem that night, but these girls have already made their rounds in the music business. If they look a little familiar it’s because they’re the girls next door. Okay not literally, they don’t live in the house next door to you, but they provided the female vocals to Musiq Soulchild’s
Settle for My Love and his 2001 single
The Girl Next Door. Ayana played played Musiq’s love interest in the video. AAries also had a song
(Come Inside) on the Johnson Family Vacation Soundtrack.
