Sometimes it's hard to contain one's excitement when truly exciting things are afoot.
This weekend we're heading off to the Transmission / Rifflandia festival in Victoria, British Columbia, a city in our home country we've never actually played. In fact, I can't even think of the last time I was there. I know there's a swank old hotel that had a beautiful miniature diarama display in it somewhere, and that's most likely where I'll be spending most of my time.
We're also doing a couple of shows in Vancouver, the first of which is a solo set opening up for Basia Bulat at St. James Hall, and then a full band production at the Little Mountain Gallery.
But, as exciting as playing and exploring can be, the biggest news we're holding under our breath is our next record. It's called Die Stadt Muzikanten. It's about 15 songs long. There's a small orchestra on it, and a choir of 30 of our musical friends here in Calgary, singing in a church all together about suburban normalicy (of all things). There's also some extras coming with it, but one exciting announcement a day is enough, isn't it?
Hope you're all doing well. Autumn really is the best part of a year, isn't it?
