I'm an internet publisher, marketer, entrepreneur and a full-time internet user. My work and interests have encompassed varied disciplines - from powerplant engineering, music, astrology to internet publishing & marketing.
I started blogging for two reasons. One, I love to write. I saw a blog as a way to not only practice my writing in an open forum, but also to be able to get instant feedback on the things I say. Secondly, there is a certain thrill for a writer to see that he has touched someone else with his words, whether it is through humor or introspection. Knowing that something I said meant something to another person energizes me and my writing.
I started to blog as an experiment to see how it would impact my life as a writer. I originally had my blog hand coded on the links page of my old web site and then moved it to my current domain when I wanted to install comments (at the request of readers). Blogging has helped make my writing stronger, given me an idea of my strengths and weaknesses as a writer and also introduced me to some wonderful people.
Second,I wanted the discipline of writing (almost) every day, and that was going to be easier for me to accomplish if I had some notion that other people were reading what I wrote. I've tried keeping normal journals in the past, and I always give them up after a month. I play best to an audience.
Third, I was about to move from Calcutta to Nabadwip, and my family is very scattered, so I wanted there to be a central locus of information about my business/friends so that I didn't have to spend all my time answering e-mails.
