On the station's web site WIOJ.net one of the listeners shared his weight loss story and did not hide behind percentages. So while a guest on the stations newest music show, The Spot with John Maycumber, I announced my starting, goal and current weight. Starting weight was 322. The goal is 250 and current is 315.

Well I am 2-weeks into the 52-week journey to lose 72 pounds. This week I lost 3 pounds bringing the total to 10 pounds in 14 days. This puts me 7 pounds ahead of the goal for this week. For you non-math types I am now at 312 pounds down from 322 pounds.  I truly appreciate the e-mails I have received as encouragement. If you wish to join me in this quest put your goals here with my and we will keep each other accountable.

I did the sign up for the Body By God Challenge which I will start on January 23. You may want to check out the program in your area. In the weeks to come I will update you on the program and how this helps my progress.

Till our next time together.

Good for you Ed! Well done! Thats a ride I have begun as well.. My starting was 315, and my goal is 220. So needless to say I have a VERY long way to go.. I last weighed 220 in 1980, so I don't expect to loose it overnight.. My current goal is 10 pounds a month for the first 6 months.. After that, much less per month.. I figure it will take at least 2 to 3 years to get all the way to 220.. That last 30 pounds will be the really tough part.. But, I have a very complex system, so I am sure I will make it. I will continue to burn more calories than I eat.. :-)  I will be expanding that concept into a full length book available from Waste of Space Publishing sometime in the fall..

Way to go Ed. Occasionally, I'll put my weekly weight loss goal on my blog here on MySpace - for the same reason, basically ... accountability. My goal is 180. I was 222 at the beginning of last summer and was shedding weight like crazy ... got down to 188 ... a basic eat less and excercise diet. Anyway, then I hurt my knee and couldn't excercise. Went back up to 200. Well, I'm well again and back down to 191. My goal is to lose those 11 pounds this year and keep it off. If I lose a little more, that's cool, too. Anyway, moral of the story is that I find it works well to use the audience like that. Hope it goes well. I'm rootin' for ya.

3 weeks and 12 pounds are gone. I met with Dr. Foster Cullum, D.C. this weekend as I prepare to go through the 6 week Body By God Challenge. Foster is sure I should be able to lose a pound/day. If that happens I will be at 261 pounds by mid March way ahead of schedule.  One of the things I am looking forward to in the Body By God Challenge is the body measurements that will be taken.

As of January 21 when I weighted myself I am down another 2 pounds. That makes a total of 12 pounds and I am down to 310.

If you heard the interview with Chad Pine on the

One Gym it seems like a great product and one is coming to the Furbee household. I will report back to you as I get my weight to a point where I can get on a home piece of equipment.

Till next week.

Welcome back for this weeks installment of my trek to 250. I have added a little bit of exercise to my weight loss program. The One Gym arrived this past week and it is great. Another product I am incorporating into a healthier lifestyle is Monavie. It is a way for me to make sure I am getting all the nutrients my body needs. Check out my separate website, My Monavie, to find out about the product.

The numbers for this week are: 5 more pounds are gone bringing the total to 17 pounds. I am now down to 305 pounds.

Thanks for following my progress and remember if you call me on air you can ask me at any time where I am.

Till next week.

We are now at the end of week 5 of the trek to 250 pounds. Taking the stairs at the building is starting to pay off. I am no longer winded when I get to the third floor. Also I noticed that when we went to St. Augustine this weekend that using the stairs was quicker then the elevator and again not winded. At lunch I am walking a couple of times of week. I also have another guy in my office joining me on the walks.

Drum roll please. I have lost 2 more pounds making it a total of 19. I am now down to 303.

Well it is week 6 and no weight loss this week. So I am still at 303 pounds. However I have a new tool to help motive me. It is called a FitBug. You can learn more about it FitBug.net. It is like a pedometer on steroids. It automatically keeps track of what you have been doing in terms of exercise value for the day. I wear it constantly. I just got it late Thursday and worn it all day Friday. A representative of the company said the goal is 10,000 steps a day. The beauty to it is it resets itself at midnight. It is programmed for me and to gain maximum benefit from it I upload the data from it to a private portion of their website so I can track my progress. I will be talking more about it over the coming weeks.

Week Eight and I am feeling great. To paraphrase Jim Morrison I broke on through to the other side. The other side of 300 that is. I have lost 3 pounds over the past week and now am at 298 pounds. This means I have now lost 24 pounds over the last 8 weeks. That is 1/3 of the goal.

I have talked about the FitBug

on the air and you really should check out their website. You can not fake what you are doing and you can not lie to your self. It truly is a great motivational tool.

Till next week.

Week 9 and I have had a great week. I only lost a pound so I have now lost a total of 25#s and am down to 297. But I am now seeing changes in my body. In the 6 weeks in the Body By God Challenge I have lost 2-3/4 inches in my waist as well as 2 inches in my hips and thighs.

On Monday we will be talking to the inventor or the FitBug

, Dennis Skigen. This device is amazing.

Tell me how you are doing.

Till next time.

WOW! 11 weeks and 28 pounds. I am now down to 294. My blood pressure is down and I am walking like a fiend. I feel great and according to some of the people who see me infrequently I am looking good. I have signed up to walk in The MS Society (North Florida Chapter) Fund Raising walk on April 1. I will have pledging info within a couple of days so if you wish to sponsor me (hint hint).

Week 12 and I have lost a total of 31 pounds. Down to 291 from 322. What is cool right now is people who see me on a regular basis are commenting on the weight loss. Saturday I had an appointment to give blood at the Florida-Georgia Blood Alliance and I decided to walk the 5-1/2 miles to the donation center to prep for the MS Walk on April 1. BTW, if you care to sponsor me you can Click Here.

When I arrived at the donation center and was let in the lady who took my history last time said she wanted to take blood pressure before we did any paper work as this was an issue several times in 2005 when I attempted to donate. I just made it under the wire in November with a 170/98. This past Saturday I was at 130/88. She was amazed. In fact she did not recognize me at first. That is the lowest (similar numbers) it has been in about 4 years.

I don’t want to sound preachy but if you are me 12 weeks ago I encourage you to get up and get moving. Many of my listeners are inspiring me and I hope I am returning the favor or paying forward.

Well it is the end of 13 weeks and time to take stock of where we are and going.

Starting weigh: 322 pounds

Weight as of 4/1/06: 290 pounds

Total loss through 13 weeks: 32 pounds

Average weight loss per week: 2.46

Projected weight loss if I continue at this pace: 128 pounds for the year.

I am feeling and looking better then I have in a long time. I need to get some new pictures taken. The fat clothes I just got for Christmas are really loose. The jeans are unwearable at this point. Old clothes that I did not have the heart to get rid of are now fitting again.

Weeks 14 and 15 get combined as I did not report last week but I did update the web site.  I lost 2 pound the week ending April 8th and no pounds the week ending April 15th. I feel as if all I do is the show, walk and do mortgages. I have walked a total of 78.65 miles per the fitbug

for the period of April 3-16. That may not sound like a lot to some but when you consider that I was doing absolutely nothing 106 days ago. In fact through yesterday (4/16/06) I have walked a total of 284.97 miles. I feel better then I have in a long time.

Yesterday I made my daughter very happy because you see she is one f the prime reasons I am doing this. She gave me a pair of AC/DC lounging pants for Christmas. They are 2X and I could not get in them. I did get them on and worn them after we got home from church. She didnt say anything to me but she did to Mrs. Furbee.

Till next time!!

Week 16 and 3 more pounds are gone. That is a total of 37 pounds and I am down to 285 pounds. I have reach over 50% of the goal of 72 pounds. I thank everyone who has been supporting me through this process.

I tell you this walking is about to kill me. I walked 43.52 miles last week. I did 11.77 miles on Saturday to get caught up. I am supposed to walk 6.81 miles a day this week. WOW! I have gone from nothing to walking over 40 miles a week.
