Okay, I know it's been a while...
It's been a while since I've really been checking for Myspace.
Been a while since I updated my profile.
It's been a while since I've really be on the "scene".
It's been a minute since I've made any new music.
I know. Folks remind me of these things CONSTANTLY.
However, it's not due to laziness, folks. I have had some major life changes happen in a short amount of time. My life is becoming drastically different then it was a year ago, a month ago, hell..a week ago...
I'm excited by all the changes. I'm also overwhelmed and somewhat exhausted. Mostly, I'm happy. Happy to be at a place where the things that I have been planting for quite some time are finally coming to fruition. For the people that have supported me through everything, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. For the people who have stayed on me about getting new music done...I promise you, it is coming and when it does...it will be 10x bigger and better than Homegirls and Handgrenades. In the meantime, I ask for your patience and your love. Things have blossomed for me in so many areas...
LOVE:
I am engaged to be married on September 12, 2009. Originally, the date was February but that was wayyyy to soon to have the kind of wedding that I wanted. So, we decided to push it back and have the full she-bang (lots of guests, food, drink, and a honeymoon in the Caribbean!). I'm looking forward to exchanging self-written vows with my honey in front of our friends and family and then jetting to St. Lucia for a week of sun, ocean, and island food.
FAMILY:
Anybody who knows me...knows Masai, my amazing 6 year old son. For a long time, it's been me and him...like Shrek and Donkey on another whirlwind adventure. However, my fiance' has a daughter named Donovan. So, now I've added a high-spirited little girl to my brood. In addition, I'm 3 months pregnant...so in a short amount of time...I've gone from 1 kid to....3! It's like I got an "Insta-Family" and all I did was added water. I'm definitely looking forward to a the whole husband and house full of kids life. I'm pushing 30 these days and I don't want to be raising kids during my retirement years, OKAY?
PREGNANCY:
As stated above, I'm pregnant. And pregnancy for me is ALWAYS synonymous with sickness. I was very sick when I had my first child and things are even worse with this one. Mornings are spent frequently getting on my knees worshipping at the toilet alter...trying desperately to appease the gods of morning sickness and nausea. However, I know it will all be worth it come June.
CAREER:
So, I finally got RAISE IT UP! off the ground! After YEARS of making mistakes, tweaking my program, facing obstacles, and learning how to truly administer a quality program...I have finally done it. What was a fun hobby for me has actually become a real non-profit organization funded by the Ruth Mott Foundation! Which means that my dream of being an Executive Director/CEO of my own business has come true! In addition to making a LOT more money and being able to do what I love, I will also have the opportunity to work with my business partner, co-founder, and mother. There is nothing more fulfilling than that. If you are interested in finding out what RAISE IT UP! does...check out the myspace page... www.myspace.com/raiseitupworkshops
HOME:
Since my family size is increasing dramatically, Delma, the kids, and I will be moving into a bigger and much nicer home earlier next year.
So as you can see....I have been kinda removed from things but all for very good reasons. I've been starting a business, creating a new life in my womb, laying a foundation with the love of my life, raising my son, getting to know my new daughter, and securing the future of me and my family....
And yes, I have written a song or two in between time and I promise that by Summer of 2009, there will not be the SAME songs rotating on my page! =)
