Great Moments In Cougar History
1) Heidi…The bands break through smash, and still to this day the most recognisable Cougar Lugar single. This heartfelt ballad tells of Heidi, the first great love of Jârdä's life and one of the many women who flocked to the Cougar banner in Berlin. Jârdä and Heidi spent several delirious weeks locked in love, but it was not too last…tiring of life with an underground rock band, she fled for the more secure arms of a farmer from Untererneckar. It was an act of betrayal and a lack of faith that Heidi would pay for with her life, when she last died in an agricultural accident. Heidi may be gone, but her memory goes on in this classic rock moment. The marketing genius if Tony Rad and the musical prowess of Cougar Lugar sent the song rocketing to number 66 in the chart and created a small piece of rock history.
2) How You Gonna Dance With My Cock Up Your Ass…In 1989 two of the great European institutions -Arnold Schwarzenegger and Cougar Lugar-came together for the major motion picture event BURNING IN BERLIN. The movie partnered the 'The Terminator' with the band to fight crime on the streets of Berlin. 'How You Gonna Dance…' is the key moment in the movies soundtrack, and shows Cougar Lugar talking to street kids using the language of the streets- Hip Hop, and helping them mend their ways. It was a brave move for the band and one that paid off…the song was their biggest hit since 'Heidi', peaking at 74 and charting in 3 countries. The song was also banned in a further 69 states, including many without a functioning music industry. To date over 200,000 VHS copies of Burning In Berlin have been used for landfill in China.
Governor Schwarzenegger has since requested all records of the movie be stricken from his catalogue.
3) Millie…'Millie' was taken from the bands memorable 1991 'Unplugged' performance, which broke new ground as the first 'Unplugged' never to be shown on any MTV Network anywhere in the world. It tells the story of Millie, an American girl whose all encompassing love for Jârdä nearly spelt an end for the band. Cougar Lugar rarely perform 'Millie' live following a tragic accident in which a young fan was badly burnt when her hair came into contact with a cigarette lighter, held aloft during the song at a gig in 1994.
