I have no idea what you're into, but I read "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things" by JT LeRoy and thought it was very well written especially dealing with its plot. It's also a pretty quick read. [:

Killing Yourself to Live (85% of a true story) by Chuck Klosterman.  its awesome, the author goes to all these places where rockstars died and tries to figure out people's obsessions whith those places.  and he tries to figure out his own life at the same time.

really any of his books are awesome.

Hey it's Chris.  I met you guys in cincinnati when I filmed the Yahoo who's next clip.  I'm graduating from college this fall with a Master's degree in Molecular Biology.  Here are some books that I found worthwhile (and mind you, I HATE reading):
On the Road--Jack Kerouac
Into thin Air--John Krackouer
Slaughterhouse 5--Kurt Vonnegut
Stranger in a Strange Land--Robert Heinlein
I know why the caged bird sings--maya angelou

Slaughterhouse Five was weeeeeeeeeeird. But the way Vonnegut showed war's effect on people's minds was unique I guess.

Read ANYTHING by Bukowski .. because its dirty and meaningful and well its just good stuff ... very RAW ... also read The Catcher In The Rye because its a staple and one of the best books ever written and read Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs because I had to read it 3 times before i understood a damn word in it ... but its crazy and a really meaningful book if you can get past the vulgarity and confusion... oh yeah and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky  ... because its my favorite ... and my second Favorite is The Giver by Lois Lowry ... ok that was more than I planned on posting anyways .. those are all good books and what not so I hope you indulge in one or 5 or them ...

peace-

I can't believe nobody touched on these.

Okay, my favorites personally. In no specific order.

-On The Road, by Jack Kerouac. Why? Because it's pretty much the drunken, drugged up rantings of a half-insane man traveling with his friends...I think you could relate lol
-The Catcher In The Rye, by J.D. Salinger. Just because it's the most necessary book ever, especially if for one second, you've ever felt like you didn't fit in somewhere. Plus, it's an easy read. A little long, but easy to get into.
-The Perks Of Being a Wallflower, by Chbosky. Again, easy read. Overall good book.

.....I can't think of any more right now.
But give me time, sir.
I'll have a whole list for you lol

The Things They Carried and In The Lake of The Woods both are by Tim O'Brien.  Normally I don't read war-esque books but his writing style is amazing.

Fast Food Nation is always a good choice

Well I happen to like Kim Harrison books. Her first one Dead Witch Walking was really good, she has four now so it's a small series. It's mostly vamps, witches, and weres, but now how you would expect.

Also, I read thee most weird book in the world, it's only about 170 pages long, but I thought it was freaking fascinating. It's one of those books that leaves you going, "What?" Anyway the name of the author is Hitomi Kanehara and the name of the book is Snakes and Earrings.

You should read The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. It's really good. King's only problem is it takes him a very long time to explain something simple.
