So my friend was doing work in India for a month and when he got back he brought over some horror movies just in time for Halloween. We watched three horror movies and they each had varying degrees of hilarity.

The first movie we saw was Raav: The mystery continues. Now this horror movie tried to be really serious, but ended up being extremely humorous due to the fact that every so often  the characters would break out into song and dance. This iI was told was how India makes music videos they put them into their movies and then cut them out for music videos in order to sell the movie or the music or both I guess. Raav was about a ghost who gets revenge on it's killers so imagine The Grudge with show tunes and that's Raav. It's so weird to be all into a horror movie and then all of a sudden see everyone singing and dancing to a love song.

The next movie was called 13 B. Now this movie was pretty awesome. It had a good story and had some funny parts that were meant to be funny. This movie was about a family of ghosts that take revenge on their killer. In the middle there were musical montages about love and sunshine that didn't really take you out of the whole horror movie mindset. Then at the end was a music video that had absolutely nothing to do with the movie! It was awesome all the same though. 13 B was the best of the three movies.

Now, the last movie I had heard a lot about and really wanted to see and that was called Phoonk. It was definitely the scariest of the three. Phoonk was about a witch who gets revenge on her former business partner with magic. They did a couple of music montages about love and butterflies which were actually sort of applicable to the story. There was no video as the credits rolled like in 13 B, but there's a section on the DVD called songs, but we didn't bother watching it.

All in all these horror movies were the most unique horror movies I ever watched and would be down for watching some more Indian horror movies in the future. If you ever get the opportunity you should check one or two out.

Note: All of these movies had subtitles. At first you don't think you need them since they talk in English then they talk in Indian then back to English. That's how it is. Every character in every movie switched between the two languages in the middle of sentences all the time. It was so weird!!!
