What is Rock Pink for the Cure Battle of the Bands all about?

Rock Pink for the Cure 2008 is a concert series to help end breast cancer forever by bringing music and humanity together center stage to raise awareness of the disease and stress the importance of early detection as the best protection.

There will be a total of five Rock Pink shows in 2008.  The first four are Battle of the Bands and will take place at The Backbooth in downtown Orlando.  Bands will compete in the first three events with the winner of each event receiving a prize package and moving on to the final battle.  The winner of the final round will be the first opening act for Rock Pink for the Cure II at the House of Blues on Friday, November 21 featuring nationally known headliner.

Round 1       Friday, April 4  ** WINNER: TRAVERSER**

Round 2       Friday, May 23 ** WINNER: RED IS RECOVERY**

Round 3       Saturday, July 26

FINALS!!      Saturday, September 27


How to Enter: 

Submit your best 2 songs, band photo, short bio, contact info, and myspace URL to info@rockpink.com or drop it off at Guitar Center in Winter Park.  Deadline for the July 26 show submissions is June 20^th at 11:59 p.m.  Bands picked for the 3rd battle will be notified by email or phone by June 23rd.  4 bands will be picked for each battle and a 5^th alternate band will be on hold in case of complications with original 4 bands.

SCORING:

Winners will be decided using a point system.  500 possible points will come from our panel of expert judges.  Judges will award points for the following areas with 100 point maximums for each skill set:

Stage Presence, Musical Expertise; Crowd Enthusiasm; Originality; Song Selection.

Judges scores will be averaged to arrive at the final score.

BONUS POINTS!!!  CREATE YOUR OWN BREAK!!!

Bands are expected to promote their appearance at the show and will be rewarded for their efforts with extra points!   There are three ways to earn valuable bonus points!  These points are VERY important and could make the difference between moving on to the finals and just moving on!  Here's how to score BIG!

• Each band will be fronted 50 tickets to the show.  It is their responsibility to sell all the tickets!  They will be at a special discounted price, so they can show their fans the love by getting them in cheap!  When the band returns the cash for the 50 tickets, they receive 100 points!
  
  
• For each walk up fan that comes to see you play, you will earn 1 point.  Remember, these are not pre-sales!  Walk ups only and they must state they are there to see YOU!
  
  
• The fans will have a say in who wins!  Fans can purchase voting cards for $1 each and there is no limit.  Each voting card is worth 1 point.  The cards will also serve as raffle ticket for some nice prizes at the show! *
