There is no need to EXPECT your business to take a down turn this summer. It just means we need to be PRIORITIZED, ORGANIZED and DESENSITIZED!
PRIORITIZED: Figure out what is most important to you this summer. By the end of the summer what do you want to be able to say about what you accomplished? Once you have made that list, then prioritize it. What are THE most important things? Here is what MY list looked like after I prioritized it.
1. Had fun with the kids and spent some great time with them. 2. Brought my kids closer to an understanding of how balanced life can be when you set goals and then take daily action steps to get there. 3. Made money so we could support that fun AND put money in the bank. 4. Got more in shape. 5. Painted the outside of the house. 6. Maintained my lawn. 7. Kept up with housework without being obsessed about it.
ORGANIZED: To carry out those priorities you then have to get organized. This includes taking steps to simplify. Some of those steps might look like:
1. Buying in bulk so you don't spend so much time at the grocery store. 2. Hire a teenager (they are ALWAYS looking for work) to come clean your house once a week, or do laundry, or watch your little ones. Is $20-$30/week worth your sanity and keeping your priorities? If you pay them $10/hr that is MORE than minimum wage. 3. Get up Early 4. Create a schedule for your kids. (Don't make this all about work) Remember, boundaries are good! 5. Create meal plans. On Sunday night right out your menu for the week. This saves me soooo much time.
DESENSITIZED: Get rid of the guilt!!!! Just be who you were meant to be and don't try and be Martha Stewart, June Cleaver, or whoever else you are comparing yourself to.
Have a FABULOUS summer!
