i remember my dad telling me something when i was really young. i used the word 'actually', and he said that it was a very good word and he was proud that i knew it. it made me feel really smart. i was thinking about it just now, and i thought, i hear people use it all the time. even in high school, i'm pretty sure people used it. when i hear someone use a word that i didn't think they would know, its usually a big word. but when i hear normal words like 'actually' i don't even register that i heard the word. its normal. an every day thing. why would an adult even register enough that they heard it, to say it was a big word. i realized long ago that my dad wasn't the smartest stick in the faggot, so it finally dawned on me that he isn't even smart enough for 'actually' to be a normal word to him. sad, really.

That is so sad, baby. I'm very sorry. I think he can see that in himself as well. It makes me think of Flowers For Algernon. Maybe that is why he reads all the time; he is trying to catch up with the rest of us. It also makes me wonder if our kids are going to know the same thing about us someday.
