Okay - first I apologize for being off the bandwagon for a couple of weeks -- well not "off".....I've still been fighting but on the phone or in email more than anything the past few weeks.  I went on vacation, started a new job, went to Polaris 22 (uber-awesome weekend), and came back to more stress at the new job......so thank God for a day off, and a chance to catch up.

Only to be slapped in the face with another derogatory barrage by Nina Tassler to discredit Moonlight fans and divide our fight.

Please my friends - don't let her comments about the campaign being "actor-centric" cause you panic......You know the truth!  This has never been the "Save Alex" campaign -- it has always been the "Save Moonlight" campaign.  Nina basically spouted off in a thinly veiled (and totally calculated I'm sure) slur campaign against the fans of Moonlight to simply rile us up again.

We've all heard the rumors -- CBS is looking at Alex for CSI.  So what do you do when you have a floundering drama who's cast and ratings are dropping like flies......you bring on someone who has 8 million loyal fans and hope they will save the show.  Wait a minute - those are 8 Million MOONLIGHT fans.....how are you going to convince them to drop the Save Moonlight campaign and start watching another CBS drama?  You try to convince them they have nothing lef to fight for.

IF (big if) we had zero hope and zero impact -- why the hell is she trying to discredit us?  You don't need to discredit the meak - you need to battle the strong.  So.....I guess that means we're stronger than she wants to admit.

The insinuation that Alex might be on another show on CBS has sent a ripple through the Moonlight community - people who stand on both sides of the line drawn in the sand:

Those who will follow Alex anywhere.

Those who love him, but won't follow him to CBS because they refuse to allow Nina Tassler the satisfaction of being right.

Division reduces....reduction weakens.....in the end.....there is nothing left.  Don't let this divide us my friends.  Whether you choose to follow Alex to a new show or not.....don't let this become the reason you leave the Save Moonlight campaign.

I can't speak for anyone but myself in this matter -- and it's been a hard thing for me to think about - I waiver back and forth everyday on what is right and what is wrong...only to realize there is no right/wrong - simply what works for you.

From the messages I have waded through this morning and the emails - I see so many people who are angry that Alex would take a role on a CBS show, and those who are just hurt that they don't feel it's fair to be forced to choose between supporting the show and supporting Alex.

Here are my thoughts and my thoughts only --

1 - Don't be angry with Alex.  I'm not his Mommy - I don't need to defend the man - he is way bigger and in better shape than I am....he can take of himself, but I feel this needs to be said.....we think with emotion. Moonlight meant something to us (as I am sure it did to the cast and creators) - we want it back, we want the story to continue.  That being said - right now it's not coming back in the near future and the cast and creators have to think about their futures.  We lost a show - not a paycheck, not a career.  They did.  They have every right to look out for themselves and seek out other opportunities.  Don't begrudge them success just because we are not happy with TPTB is not a reason to blast Alex's decision (should he make it) to return to CBS.....so please - cut the man a little slack, acting is a business.

2 - Angry with what Nina had to say -- TELL HER!  Not in a rude or mean way - but let her know what you are feeling.  If you have no intention of following Alex to another series - let her know that.

3 - Stay united!  Just because you don't agree with someone does not mean you have to be snarky or mean to them.  Look around the great world wide web and you will find thousands of people you don't agree with - but you don't (or at least shouldn't) go around calling them names and cutting them down.  Don't do that to the other members of the Moonlight family.  This is a rough time for Moonlight fans who feel torn between supporting the cast and supporting the show - give people time to work it out.

I dunno - I wish I had answers.  No one has them right now.  All I can say is stay up on the news at the major campaign sites - Moonlightarmy.com, Moonlightline.com, and Moonlight-United.com - talk to other Moonlight fans about what your feeling.  (Hell if the need arises for you - click on Alex's myspace and tell him how your feeling.....but be kind my friends, he too has to realize the emotions that have been sparked by all these rumors and Nina's less than "glowing" description of the Moonlight fans.)  Be proactive -not reactive.  Several shows have been cancelled for a long time only to come back in a later hail Mary play........don't give up.

To those who feel the fight was fought and have chosen to lay down arms - I hope that you continue to support those of us who just can't help but soldier on through the dark times.  I think we are all valuable in this cause -- and we need to stick together.

Vampire Solidarity - now and forever,

Susie

(For those who have been asking about Polaris 22 -- totally awesome experience with my Moonlight Sisters, and the incomparable Jason Dohring .... I will try to get more up and some pictures later today.)
