I am really beginning to hate Fridays! Every Friday we seem to get bad Moonlight news or press.....then we spend half the week calming everyone down, answering emails, and trying to regain our sanity......then Friday comes along and we get bitch slapped with something new.
So this Friday was no different. A blogger paraphrased Joel Silver as saying Moonlight was "dead"...the exact quote is still a mystery - but from the few people who were in attendance that I know I have heard the statement was "sadly, it's finished."
So what does this mean? Well let's put this into context. Joel Silver was not giving a panel on Moonlight when this statement was made. He was there presenting his other endeavors. Evidently, the Moonlight contingent in the crowd went into hoots and hollers when Alex was mentioned (can you blame them!) and then he made the statement "sadly, it's finished" and then went back to presenting what he was there to present.
I can understand the statement - get the focus off Alex, and back on the reason he was there. Does this mean Joel Silver thinks it's over? Could be. I left my Karnac the Minder identity in my other super-suit.....so I can't answer that. The only who knows is Silver himself.
What does this mean for Moonlight fans? It means that you have to make a choice for yourself whether or not you want to continue the fight or hug your Moonlight memories close to your heart and move on. It's that simple, even though we all know being a Moonlight fan is never that simple. This show touched our hearts, inspired us to new levels, and forged some strong friendships. Letting go will never be an easy option. It is an option though - and I want everyone to know that should you choose to stop the fight to see Moonlight back in some form that does not change your place in the Moonlight family in my mind. We've come to far, shared to much, and fought to hard to simply say 'goodbye".
If you choose to stay in the fight - then know you are still in good company. There are many who just can't let go of that glimmer inside that says there is a chance.
Many of us from many sites are making a move to show the love to Silver Productions and remind CBS that we are still here and still fighting.
I know people are reeling today - seeing "Moonlight is Dead" in print is never easy, but we've seen it before and we fought on. I know we have been at this a long time - nothing in life worth fighting for comes easily.
