things were looking good for "@coustic fest 09", the line up was something we'd been dreaming of for a good while. babar luck and captain hotknives on the same bill - in london, johnny one lung(filaments, suicide bid), ed ache from the fantastic ICH band, sarah bear and josh, then the traveller element- myself and chezney doing our rabid anarchist/trad diddlydee material and sioux the granarchist with her scathing poetry (or being a rantin old bag as her son rowan described it ;) so there i was on friday night coming up the 303 on route to the smoke when the rose and crown squat got suddenly evicted! erk....reknaw who were supposed to be doing the sound and lol who was a big part of the event ended up in convoy all night trying to break a new site. artists had travelled from bradford, west wales, bristol and east anglia. the word was put out in all directions to find a new venue for the gig THE NEXT DAY.. and finally at 9pm a pub called the crown and anchor in brixton stepped in and gave us the go ahead so having found a new venue, a new soundsystem and a new soundman we arrived at 6pm the following day to set up. the landlady jean was a sweetheart who was totally cool with us, allowing kids in the pub and chilling our own beer for us behind the bar. it's an old school boozer the crown and anchor, opposite the jamm on brixton rd, they do a decent pint of guinness and are good people - check em out! of course the mixing desk didn't work properly and all that inevitable mess that goes with organised chaos, but after much re-routing and curses things were all good all the acts were wicked, the fest had the best vibe i've seen in years and the ecclectic mix of people was an inspiration - locals, family people, hippys, punks, students, eccentrics, squatters, site people, space cadets, straight edged folk...all the fun of the fair! thanks to all of you who helped out, played, spread the word and turned up, lets do it again soon! one love - j
