Fellow Star Wars Fans,
The battle to save Fanboys is NOT OVER!We've just learned that the Weinstein Company has decided to finally release Fanboys, on February 6, 2009. But only in 8 cities! Yes, you read that right. After receiving over 300,000 emails from fans about Fanboys last year, Darth Weinstein is now only going to release it on 40 screens in a handful of cities:
Austin, TX (1 screen)
Chicago, IL (3 screens)
Houston, TX (3 screens)
Los Angeles, CA (10 screens)
New York, NY (10 screens)
Philadelphia, PA (5 screens)
San Francisco, CA (6 screens)
Seattle, WA (3 screens)
They "might" expand the movie to more cities and theaters if it does well in these eight cities on opening weekend. We're asking you to please help us make sure that the fans all over the country (and the world) who have been waiting years to see this movie will be able to see it in their local cinema. Here's what you can do:
1) Tell everyone you know who lives in or near those eight cities to go see the movie in the theater the week it opens.
2) Spread the word. Post about this on forums you go to--IMDb, Star Wars forums, movie message boards or blogs, Facebook, MySpace, LiveJournal. Anything goes. Tell your friends and family. Word of mouth is a powerful thing.
3) If you know any portals or websites that might be interested in publishing an article about the movie or this campaign, alert them. Feed them with information. Make it happen.
If we get enough people to voice their opinion, we might just get the Weinstein Co. to listen and put the movie out there for everyone to see. So please make your voice heard!
4) E-mail the Weinstein Company and let them know that you've been waiting YEARS to see Fanboys and that you want it to open in a theater in your area. Just send your message to
Fanboys@weinsteinco.comYes, it's pretty sad when you have to
BEG A MOVIE STUDIO TO LET YOU PAY TO SEE ONE OF THEIR MOVIES! But, once again, the Weinstein Company has given the fans no choice. We stopped Darth Weinstein from ripping the heart out of Fanboys. Now we have to force him to let us actually SEE IT!
If the Weinstein Company won't give the fans who fought so hard to save FANBOYS the chance to actually see the movie in theaters, they will once again feel the wrath of the Rebel Alliance! Stay tuned for Phase 2 of the Stop Darth Weinstein campaign!
Sincerely,
Biggs Darklighter
