Hey there dear friends and family,
How are you going? I am missing each and everyone of you and pray that you are doing well!!! Well as usual things have been going full steam ahead down here in Sydney town. I am officially enrolled in bible college, last Thursday all the "worship and creative arts" students went in and enrolled in their subjects and courses for this semester.
During the enrolment process we were told that we would have to audition so the college could see where we are at musically and to see where they could use us in the church. I have NEVER had an "audition" in my life and I didn't know what to expect. I was informed that we were required to play 2 songs (One way and From the Inside out) with a live band on the stage. Initially I was a little nervous and doubted my own ability but God really challenged me and empowered me.
Audition day arrived (the day after enrolling) and it was do or die time, my name was called (first drummer of the rank) and I climbed on to the stage with people like matt (the bassist from Hillsong) and Rolf (the drummer for Hillsong) standing beside me waiting for me to start playing.
I counted in 1 2 3 4 and it was on like DONKEY KONG, Rolf was beside me watching over my shoulder, Matt (bass) and several new students were all rocking out to the tune of One Way. We finished up from the inside out and it was over. I couldn't believe how calm and confident I was during the set but knew that God was really working through me. I had so much fun and could have continued to play for hours. We haven't heard how we went yet so I'll keep you posted.
On other fronts, church has been going really well. I am enjoying some really good teaching from several different speakers. Joyce Meyer, Robert Ferguson, Sanger and Phil Dooley. Just last night Robert Ferguson brought a great word on overcoming the accuser. It's good to be reminded about our position we have in Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour, we don't need be pushed around by the devil because the blood of Jesus has set us free. If some of you are interested I can send you the notes I took.
College orientation starts tomorrow, we are all very expectant and excited about starting. I am presuming it will mainly be explaining the rules and how college works but it will be good to get some insight on what to expect for the future. Apparently there are 450 new students starting this year (I am not sure if that is the total between the two campuses) and a total of about 1200 students attending college. Only 20% of those students are Aussie (COME ON AUSSIE) and the rest come from USA, CANADA, ITALY, SOUTH AMERICA, NETHERLANDS, NORWEIGH, SWITZERLAND, GERMANY, NEW ZEALAND … and from other places. So it's definitely an INTERNATIONAL leadership college (as the name suggests).
Well, I should really get started on the day, I thank all of you for your continued prayer and support.
Bless ya!
Matt W
