Current mood:  inspired

Art is the cure can and is changing people's lives. Since this project began in February 08 I've heard hundreds of stories about people using creativity to turn their life around. The whole theme of inspiration always comes up in every story. People found inspiration through AITC, or from a friend who overcame something through art, or from seeing a story which they related to and realized they had the strength to do something positive as well.

Inspiration can come in a million different forms. The thing a lot of people don't understand is it's just as easy to become an inspiration as it is to find inspiration. Everyone who has told a friend about this project, shared their story, made a piece of art or put AITC in their name has become an inspiration.

We don't always know who we inspire and touch in life or how we have done it. Seeing an AITC banner on someone's profile may well have prompted someone to click through, read the story and felt inspired to turn to creativity too.

It is the butterfly effect in a way. One small gesture of support, one action, four letters in a myspace name could change someone's life. That's the amazing thing about this project. It is not about raising a lot of money, it isn't about encouraging counseling or telling people how to fix their problems. It is about inspiring people to take matters into their own hands, encouraging people to dig deep and find their own strength and independence to help themselves.

There are a million different forms of inspiration and an equally diverse range of cures. The beautiful thing about the world is everyone's different; everyone has their own take on what art is and how they can express themselves.

What I want to achieve through AITC is to inspire people and turn people into inspirations for others. It is like a pyramid effect, 1 person can become an inspiration to a few people, this few can be inspired and turn that into inspiration for others. This effect will grow and grow and 1 person who inspired 3 people could result in changing hundreds of lives in time. The more people do to spread the word about AITC and art therapy, the more people will learn about it and find inspiration to be a part of it.

There are a million different ways to inspire others, a million different cures and a million different ways to change the world through AITC.

So well said! My motto for The Art Of Pain (the project I'm working on) is 'Inspiration is the cure, art is an outlet'.

the fact that art is, in fact, an amazing outlet and can greatly benefit people in suffering, is the very reason why i am going to college to become an art therapist.

Such a beautiful message. I support! I have a links section on my page of places I think people should take the time to visit, and I'm definitely adding AITC to it. Thank you for doing what you do. :]

beautiful idea... when nothing else can, music and paint helps me.
there have been 30 kids stabbed in south london alone in the last 6 months. if kids picked up pens and spat lyrics or a can of spray paint to express themselves i'm sure this would eleviate the problem.

i really support this idea and i'll definitely get some people from this side of the pond to look to work towards this ethic. yep yep WICKED stuff. x

this is such a great foundation
even being involved in art, i never knew much about using art a healing tool.

i actually have to make a poster for an art class on a cause, foundation or event. I picked AITC of course lol. But anyway if you or anyone has any ideas of what i can do with it once im done, let me know. Because its not going to get much use sitting in my closet, i just dont know where i could display it.

keep up the great work...i see great things down the road for AITC

I have been interested in art since i was a kid.. i'm taking an art course in college atm.

I never write diaries i always draw, paint or splurge out in some medium what i feel, and it has been a phenomenal help to me even if noone else see's it.

I think what this whole page is about is amazing.

Certainly gonna be a link on my page.
