One of my favorite local bands of the past few years has been The Central Standards. I've written about them in several places (including Yelp and the Vexar Entertainment Web site), so I won't repeat myself except to say that their overall sound, vocal harmonies, and (especially) songwriting were all top notch. So when my friend Jeff Capps, one of the two founding members of The Central Standards, asked me to play drums and percussion on his solo CD, I was both excited and humbled.
That CD, which Jeff has titled "The Muddy and the Blue," will be available starting April 4. Though I'm quite biased, I think it's fantastic--a bit moodier and darker than the Standards' CDs generally were, and just chock full of memorable melodies. Jeff (joined by bassist TJ Boland and myself) will debut the new tunes at Otherlands on Saturday, April 4, starting around 10:00 pm. It'll be a Large Time.
